Guy Francis was born and raised here in New York.
Just prior to
his photography career, he studied briefly as an actor
at The Neighborhood Playhouse and individually with teacher Phil
Gushee. While soon realizing that acting was not what he was meant to do he did, however, gain an appreciation
and understanding of actors' and their craft. He also realized that he
was meant to be on the other side of the lens!
After completing a 1 year program at The Center For The Media Arts, he
worked for several years as the first assistant for a couple of highly
successful portrait and commercial photographers. While he has shot everything from still life to concerts to
documentary, it will always be portraiture that fascinates him.
His
work has appeared
on several CD & DVD covers and for publication in Billboard Magazine,
Drum Magazine, The New York Times, world-wide for USA Today and the cover of Eye Weekly in Toronto.
